Notes for Sabre 27 sellers
A new owner will want to know all about the boat and its equipment. Records of equipment purchases, maintenance and replacements will also be helpful if a prospective purchaser wants to take advantage of the ‘no survey’ insurance scheme. Owners who plan to sell their Sabres are therefore advised to assemble all relevant documents and receipts, so that they can be passed on when the boat changes hands. Find more information here.

1979 | Fin Keel | Lying Portsmouth (Langstone Harbour) | £8,000
Description
Khushi is a late build fin keel Sabre. She is up for sale again because I now have a half-tide pontoon berth, for which a twin keel or lifting keel boat will be a much better option. I’ll be pleased if I can replace her with twin keel Sabre in similar condition. In the last two years of ownership I have made repairs and improvements to the boat to ensure seaworthiness, as listed below. She is well fitted out for single-handed sailing and live-aboard, with many extra features. Price reflects need for some minor cosmetic attention.

I have decided to put Stroma of Gare on the market, only really due to

no doubt miss her.
The Sabre 27 MkII is a well built good volume yacht with nice safe
sailing characteristics which make her ideal for cruising.

I have bills of sale for over the last five years together with some
history of the boat and it's previous owners. She sails well and being
very seaworthy, can cope well in most situations. She is currently on
the hard at Rosneath.
After a 6 year period of very happy ownership, we have made the reluctant decision to sell our much loved, and cared for, Sabre 27 as we are now in the process of looking for a bigger boat.
Fliss is a bilged keeled version of the Sabre 27 sailing yacht, which gives access to creeks and harbours where others might be reluctant to go, and is one of the few versions to have her interior completed by the factory. She is our first boat and, before purchase, we looked long and hard at many different makes and models and sizes of boat up to 30ft before coming across the Sabre and being very surprised by the space available in the cabin, the standing headroom, and the extensive storage which exceeded that of most of the larger boats we had looked at.
We chose Fliss for a number of reasons, not least of all the new engine that had been fitted just two years before we bought her, but principally because of the all round good reputation the Sabre 27 has as a sailing vessel. She is easy to handle short handed, and many owners sail Sabres on their own. There is a very active owners association who meet up twice a year at rallies and who provide a dedicated website this one - providing much in the way of technical information and general support.
We have spent a lot of time continually updating and improving her and she is offered for sale at a very reasonable price of £9,950.
Fliss is one of the Mark II Sabres, so has the taller mast, and is one of the "fully fitted" versions completed by the factory in approximately 1972. In her previous ownership, she had been set up for single handed sailing and has the advantage of having stainless steel mast steps fitted. She also has reinforced standing rigging and the ability to attach a second forestay for extended downwind sailing.
Fliss has been predominantly sailed by a husband and wife team, so to make things a little easier on ourselves; we invested in a Kemp Powermain and Stackpack which allows us to drop the main into the pack without the need to spend time at the boom flaking the sail. She also has a Kemp roller reefing Genoa with a protective UV strip to protect against sun damage. Other luxuries include a cockpit mounted Garmin chart plotter and a Raymarine S2000 autopilot, which interfaces with the plotter.
For the most part, we have sailed around the Solent with the odd excursion into the English Channel. She is regarded as an excellent sea boat (some Sabre owners regularly sail to the Netherlands, Spain, and Southern France) and is equally well suited to the shifting sands of the east coast or sailing the creeks and drying areas of the Solent.
We have always felt safe on Fliss; she is definitely a boat that will look after you and, for the buyer, I will personally ensure that she is handed over to you such that that you have the knowledge and confidence of her to enjoy many happy years sailing her.
